When does the Steam Autumn Sale 2026 end?
The sale runs for one week, from 1–8 October 2026. It began on 1 October at 10 am Pacific (PDT), or 6 pm UK time (BST), and ends at the same time on 8 October.
Check Valve’s official Autumn Sale schedule. Publishers choose which discounts to offer, so check the current price and offer end time on each game’s Steam page.
Should you buy in the sale or wait?
Judge the price available now against your budget and a realistic plan to play. Use the comparison below, then check how much money and gaming time your cart represents.
There is no reason to buy today
- You cannot say when you will start the game.
- The sale price is more than you intended to spend.
- You already have several games you intend to finish first.
- You are buying because the offer feels urgent, not because you have time to play.
The current deal already makes sense
- You plan to start playing soon and have time for it.
- The actual checkout price fits your budget.
- You have checked the refund terms and platform compatibility.
- The purchase will not simply disappear into your backlog.
A discount is not the same as a good purchase
A game can be 70% off and still be poor value for you if it remains unplayed. Before buying, compare the money saved with the extra hours added to your backlog and the date you realistically expect to begin.
See what the sale adds to your backlog
Enter the number of games, average discount, game length and your weekly gaming time. BacklogBurn will show the total spend, headline saving and how many weeks of play the purchase represents.
For example, four games averaging 25 hours each add 100 hours of play. At 10 hours per week, that is 10 weeks of gaming, before accounting for your existing backlog.
Four questions to ask before checkout
- Will I play it before the next major sale? If not, waiting costs you very little.
- How many unfinished games come first? A long queue reduces the practical value of buying now.
- Is the price affordable without relying on the claimed saving? Spending less than the list price is still spending money.
- How many hours am I adding? A six-game cart can represent months of your available gaming time.
What if the game is not discounted?
A seasonal sale does not guarantee a discount on every game. If its current price is acceptable to you and you will play it immediately, buying can still make sense. Otherwise, leave it on your wishlist. There is no need to buy an undiscounted game simply because the wider sale is ending.
Make a purchase you have time to play
Use the Autumn Sale to buy games you can afford and expect to play. If your cart is growing faster than your available gaming time, reduce it to the games you want to start next. A discount is useful only if the purchase fits your plans.
