Game Backlog Deadline Calculator
Set a target date for clearing your game backlog. BacklogBurn works backwards to calculate the gaming hours per week you need and whether your current schedule is enough.
Your target
This treats the entered games as the backlog you want to finish. It does not assume you keep buying new games during the challenge.

What this calculator answers
A normal backlog calculator estimates how long the pile takes at your current pace. This one reverses the question: if you want the backlog gone by a birthday, holiday, new console launch or the end of the year, how many hours of backlog gaming do you actually need each week?
How the calculation works
Remaining hours are estimated from the number of games, average game length and average progress already completed. Those hours are divided by the number of weeks between today and your target date. The result is the weekly backlog time needed to meet the deadline.
Example backlog deadline
Suppose you have 25 unfinished games averaging 20 hours each. That is roughly 500 hours of backlog. If your deadline is 50 weeks away, you would need about 10 backlog-focused gaming hours per week to finish on time, assuming you do not add more games.
What changes the weekly target?
A larger backlog, longer games or an earlier deadline all increase the weekly hours required. Existing progress reduces the remaining hours, while pushing the deadline further away lowers the weekly target.
If you do not have a deadline and simply want to know when your current habits would clear the pile, use the main game backlog calculator. If you are unsure how much time you actually have available, the gaming time calculator converts a weekly schedule into monthly and yearly totals.
You can also use the games-per-year calculator to estimate how many games your schedule can realistically support over a full year.
Backlog deadline calculator FAQ
How many hours per week do I need to clear my game backlog?
Divide your estimated remaining backlog hours by the number of weeks until your target date. This calculator performs that calculation and compares the result with your current weekly gaming time.
Does the calculator include new games I buy?
No. This deadline tool treats the entered games as a fixed target. If you expect to keep buying games, use the main BacklogBurn calculator, which accounts for incoming backlog.
Should I count games I have already started?
Yes. Use the progress field to estimate how much of the average game has already been completed so the remaining-hour estimate is more realistic.
